Among the BEST |

I believe most pieces on this CD, recorded in the 1930's in Argentina, are among the best from the best, instrumental & vocal. It's puzzling that Francisco Canaro remained relatively unknown until recently even among tango fans.

There is so much Canaro music out there that it makes it hard to pick the good ones. This CD has good Canaro milongas.

This disc has tangos, milongas, and valses so one gets a full introduction to tango music. Vocals are hard to hear.

The title track "La Melodia De Nuestro Adios" is a perfect example of Canaro's clear-cut phrasing and musicality. Dancers really can enjoy this one for relating to the musical forms. An interesting feature is the extended introductions to the Valsas which have a broader tempo than usual.

Francisco Canaro has a great selection of music, and this set is very good for allowing you to select a mood for dancing or listening. They are able to evoke good visual imagery. The music is smooth with a nice variety of styles and tempos

I think if you can only have one Canaro CD, then this would be the one to choose. Quality is good. Almost all the tracks are good.
